XVII VIETNAM SCHOOL OF PHYSICS

Particle and astroparticle physics
at the dawn of the LHC era

Hue, 18 - 24 July 2011

The 17th Vietnam School of Physics (VSOP) will be held from 18 - 24 July 2011 in coordination with the 2011 BCVSPIN.

The VSOP is a series of annual schools starting with Rencontres du Vietnam (RdV) in 1994. Since then it has been organized regularly by RdV and the Institute of Physics (IOP) in various places of Viet Nam.

The participants to VSOP come mainly from Vietnam and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region, while BCVSPIN attracts mainly students from China and South-Asia.

2011 BCVSPIN

Advanced study institute in
particle physics and cosmology

Hue, 24 - 30 July 2011

The 2011 BCVSPIN will be held from 25 - 30 July 2011 in coordination with the 17th Vietnam School of Physics (VSOP).

The BCVSPIN (an acronym denoting Bangladesh, China, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India and Nepal) is a series of summer schools on high energy physics and cosmology inaugurated in 1989 in order to allow young scientists in these countries, who often lack access to conferences, journals, and scientific exchange, with the opportunity to keep abreast with the newest developments in high energy physics and cosmology.

The VSOP and the BCVSPIN share a common goal of providing young Asian physicists with the opportunity to learn the latest developments in physics from experts from all over the world. With the current coordination in their organizations in Vietnam this time, the VSOP and the BCVSPIN schools are complementary in scope and content.

The programs of the two schools are coordinated so that the VSOP will serve as an introduction (with fewer but longer sets of lectures) to the BCVSPIN where more specialized lectures will be given.

The 17th VSOP and the 2011 BCVSPIN also share a common registration system and the deadline for registration for both schools is 04 April 2011 (Monday).
